Festive days out near our holiday cottages
The build up to Christmas is just as magical. Whether you choose to build up to the big day in Lincolnshire, the Cotswolds, West Berkshire or Oxfordshire, there’s a festive market or light trail worth building a day trip around.
Lincolnshire & Lincoln – Lincoln Cathedral Christmas Market runs from 3-5 December 2026, set amongst the cathedral’s nave, cloisters, and grounds – a smaller, more intimate alternative to larger festive markets, right beside Lincoln Castle, helping you combine a day of festivities with the history on offer.
Cotswolds & Bath – Bath’s Christmas Market runs from 26 November to 13 December 2026, and features hundreds of festive chalets, mulled wine, and carol singing set against the city’s Georgian streets.
West Berkshire & Newbury – Newbury’s Festival of Light is a highlight of the town’s festive calendar, with a candle-lit lantern procession travelling from the Corn Exchange into the Market Place, accompanied by live music and a genuinely festive atmosphere. There’s even chance to get involved in lantern making in the build-up to the event.
Oxfordshire & Oxford – The Oxford Christmas Market takes over the historic Broad Street from 21 November through to 31 December, in the shadow of the city’s honey-coloured colleges. A compact but charming spot for an evening of mulled wine, last-minute gifts and all-round Christmas cheer.

Christmas often means a full house, emergency chairs and temporary beds – but our cottages are built to handle it. Large kitchens for the cooking, generous living spaces for everyone to gather, and enough bedrooms that nobody’s squeezed onto a sofa bed. It’s Christmas without the usual squeeze of hosting at home.
We put a Christmas tree in every property for the season, but guests are welcome to bring their own decorations to help make Christmas their own.
