Christmas recipe: reindeer and robin strawberries
19 December 2024A fun Christmas activity to create delicious chocolate strawberry characters
Ingredients
- 2 punnets strawberries (we’d recommend Dyson Farming strawberries available in Marks and Spencer, Sainsbury's, Co-op and selected Lincolnshire farm shops)
- 200g milk chocolate
- 200g dark chocolate
- Googly eyes
- Salted pretzels
- Orange, brown and red Smarties
Instructions
- Wash: gently wash the strawberries and allow them to dry
- Prepare: cut a strip of baking parchment and set to one side
- Heat water: fill a small pan with around 1 inch of water and bring it to a gentle simmer
- Melt chocolate: place the chocolate in a heat proof bowl and sit it over the simmering water, making sure the bottom of the bowl doesn’t touch the water
- Stir: gradually melt the chocolate, stirring occasionally until smooth, then remove from the heat
- Dip strawberries: hold each strawberry by the leaf top and dip it into the melted chocolate. For the robins, make sure you leaf its famous red breast.
- Tip: place the dipped strawberries on baking parchment to set
- Decorate: break the pretzels to give your reindeer antlers, or snap the smarties in half to give your robins a beak. Add your googly eyes and watch your characters come to life
